Mayor Eric Adams eyes lead role in upcoming Luigi Mangione musical
"Heya! Whassa matta you?" began Mayor Eric Adams at a press conference this past Thursday. It was, apparently, a nod to the Italian American community of New York City.
In a plot twist even Broadway didn’t see coming, Mayor Eric Adams has reportedly expressed interest in playing the lead in the upcoming musical about Luigi Mangione.
Sources close to the mayor say he believes he has the charisma and charm to carry the show.
Adams stated, “To me, Luigi Mangione represents the American Dream. He represents an opportunity that really only exists in my city. In my city, if you're willing to make bold moves, you can go from being a nobody to a somebody with relative ease. I think Luigi's work captures the soul of the city. Who better to play him than the guy running the city?”
Mayor Eric Adams is no stranger to pivoting. Police officer, 24-hour vegan, and nightclub aficionado are just some of the positions he’s held in life.
"This play reminds me a lot of Hamilton,” he offered. “It's about the importance of not throwing away your shot."
When asked about the morality of Mangione's rise to fame, Adams responded, "Ayyy, paisan, whassa matta you?"
